While I was getting my F-150 serviced at the Ford Quick Lane in Bakersfield this one was there for service also.

At one point they had one in Sacramento that had "porcupine" on the side by the hood. It was covered in antennas, including low band whips and an HF antenna. Somewhere in one of my files I have a photo I took at one of the NAPCO meetings.

That was a Contra Costa Fire vehicle and was replaced by Porcupine II

Id hate to be the tech with that truck...I have enough trouble hitting some of my sites with a short bed extended cab...8' bed 4 door must be a bear to manuver on a mountain road....but i would like the room he has.

My personal truck was similar to that. 8 foot bed, crew cab. Three point turns were not easy, but it usually had plenty of ground clearance to make it where ever I was going.

Work truck is an F350 regular cab with a service body. Much nimbler off road.

Right.
Last time I saw one of their vehicles, it was at a NAPCO conference, so I was totally working.

Not sure why people get upset about this stuff.

There was a Fly kit they were demonstrating on HF ALE and were talking to SAC State EOC in digital on 40 meters
Crystal clear!
These vehicles were from SOCAL and will likely be replaced in the near future budget permitting

LOL they were discussing updating the Spectras in that van ten years ago, when one of the ACS guys rebuilt an Oasis trailer in his yard.

... and hopefully the TK-5x10s (?), though having a bunch of buttons and knobs can be cool, and KPG-95 is probably more field-friendly than KPG-D1.

I still use some discretion. Maybe it's from having been too many places in the world where taking pics of things can get you killed or worse.
