Brush fire caused by Marines on a training exercise broke out this morning. As of 15 minutes ago, Orange County Fire Authority Helicopter 1 was over the scene assisting the U.S. Forest Service. OCFA Helicopter Tender 41 and Helicopter Ultility 41 were en route to assist.

Units working on ORC 5 Alpha as well as Forest Service Air-to-Ground on 170.000 MHz.

Thanks for the info. A bit too far for my little handheld to pick up. Actually, given how far south the incident is, OCFA Helicopter 1 asked its dispatch to call them on the "new satellite phone" since their communications on the OC trunk system was breaking up.

IC just estimated the size of the fire to be 2500 acres. That's a lot larger than I would have guessed from listening.
