BCD436HP/BCD536HP: Campaign for 536 backlight issue?

Hi - I was out of the hobby for a number of years and just getting back in.

I have a 536hp that has the dimmed down backlight issue. Even on high you can barely see any backlighting.

The SN starts with a 3. I’m certain I have one of the models where this was a faulty version.

Is it too late to send it in under the repair campaign??

Thanks

Heath

By any chance do you guys know about bcd436hp encoder problems with it intermittently jumping over selected menu selections? I suspect the encoder is defective and needs to be replaced at the factory. My unit is less than 6 months old under warranty.

Thanks Richard

Darn!! Ok, any idea how much it will cost?
Uniden charges about $90 for their flat rate repair. It’s not a bad price when compared to the hourly rate a tech would charge for repair and parts. A rounded off figure of $100 (repair and shipping costs) will get your scanner fixed and returned.

I received my 536 yesterday I've got it running through Proscan and keep the light off on the scanner. Hopefully, they have got all the bugs worked out. Haven't checked the headphone jack yet.

Is that a new one? If so, it should not have the issue.

I don't recall any estimated cutoff but it was well before the repair campaign ended, so it is highly unusual that a 2022 unit purchased new could have that issue. Now, if it were purchased used someone could have swapped the display boards. I have units (like 3) that have been running 24/7/365 for many years that are not dimming. (I also have older ones - also 3 of them - that have dimmed)

I purchased through Amazon. It was delivered exactly 1 week ago today. I looked at all screw heads as well as the whole scanner and nothing looked to be out of the ordinary.

Sold as new or "like new"? Even the fact that it is a three year old date code is suspect.

Also was this Amazon direct or a third party?

In short, something is not adding up here. I don't doubt what you say, but something is wrong somewhere.

Does the SN on the box match the scanner?
