I saw this radio at Disney World last week on the new Skyliner system. Can anyone identify the radio type?

That was the mystery to me also. It was a Disney cast member. And I saw the (now identified) XP5's in a holder clipped to every ride console on the whole Skyliner system.

Total shot in the dark here, but judging by the number of sites and location, and knowing some of the spots the skyliner travels, would not be surprised if this is a stop-gap solution for radio system enhancements.

Could be. But then I wouldn't be XP5, would be something Android based to give them the app. Knowing the size of Disney though, would not be surprised if they worked out an agreement to tie the AT&T PTT into Wave since they are developed by the same people.....

EDIT: Turns out the solution for that exists. "Critical Connect". Wave is carrier-independent, but Kodiak developed the Broadband PTT used by all major U.S. cellular carriers as well as Wave. Critical Connect would be the "interoperability" bridge.

I wondered about WAVE, since they use it on the Disney Cruise Line for the onboard hotel ops, etc...

KevinC,
Since this isn't a Motorola thing, maybe you could move this to the Florida forum and we could pick up the discussion there.

The WAVE Phones on the Disney Wonder (at least in 2018) where made by Phillips or NEC.

Nitro is a brand name for Motorola’s CBRS infrastructure. CBRS stands for Citizens Broadband Radio Service. It’s a fairly large section of 3.5GHz range that is more or less for companies on a decent size campus to basically have private LTE.

By basically having your own cellular infastructure outside of normal bands using what is more or less what your phone is using you have significant capacity and speed improvements where WiFi can’t keep up. If you’ve ever used WiFi in a large public space like a busy hotel or downtown area, you know how quickly it becomes congested and suddenly WiFi is way worse than your cellular data connection.

All the IoT devices such as cameras, handheld scanners for inventory, mobile credit card terminals, etc can run off of this network and not worry about a commercial carrier having overload or crowded WiFi band. The benefit with Nitro is out of the box it supports push to talk, just like the XP5 in the first picture - it feels seamless to the end user, and your capacity is barely dented by the digital voice.
