Yes, I've already done the discriminator tap mod on the scanner. Well, that's a major bummer if Uniden intentionally designed it to not stop and track digital talk groups. Why on earth would they do that instead of at least giving us the option to turn that feature on or off? And how does the scanner "know" a talk group is digital?
The radio was created before Uniden could decode digital, so it may help explain why they set it up to hear analog, but avoid the noise of (then un-decodable) digital noise.

I doubt they were intentionally trying to defeat what you are doing, but digital was strictly noise back then to be avoided like encrypted transmissions. .

I wonder if this could be fixed with a firmware update?

I've got a Uniden BC760XLT made around 1988. I put a DTap on it and it decodes digital P25 and DMR with Fastlane DSD Plus. I just put all the local frequencies minus the control channels and it works fine.

Older scanners are great for discriminator taps for CONVENTIONAL. But the issue here is trunk following.

Maybe I don't understand, but if you enter all the frequencies used on a system, wont the scanner stop as the frequencies are used?

Yes, it will. However on a trunking system, a conversation constantly changes frequencies. To automatically follow those frequency changes, you need a trunking scanner that automatically lets you hold on a talk group and follow the frequency changes so you can hear a normal conversation.

I monitor KSICS - Kansas Statewide Interoperable Communication System and receive everything on a tapped scanner that my HP1 and Pro-106 does.

I just discovered today that with FreeScan software connected to the BCT15X, you can download and import whole conventional and analog trunked systems to the radio.

I. DID. NOT. KNOW. THIS!

So now I feel like a fool for spending hours copy-pasting to / from the EZ Grab utility of FreeScan.

But that EZ Grab thing works really well.
