Canadian Firmware PSR 500

Hi folks.
I just snagged a great deal on a PSR 500 up here in Canada.
It still has firmware 1.6 and DSP 1.3.

My intention is to update it to the latest.

I've managed to find the firmware 2.1 & DSP 1.4 but these are for the US version. Does anyone on here happen to have an archived "c" version firmware file? Unfortunately I'm reading that the US version won't play nice on my C version radio, yet I can't seem to find a C version firmware 2.1 anywhere.

If it is working well for you, then you can probably stick with it, however you should have nothing to lose with an update. The used one I bought yesterday was on original firmware.

The reason I updated it is because the newer firmware increases compatibility with some of the newer radio systems. It also fixes some minor bugs. According to the web, ver 2.1 fixed the search issues in Marine band.

Step sizes were also changed as band plans changed. Perhaps someone who has had the radio longer than me can explain what the other firmware updates improved over the lifetime of GRE.

You're welcome. I downloaded version 2.3 and updated my scanner however had forgotten to update the Yahoo Group with CPU version 2.3. The Yahoo Group now has version 2.3 for future reference.

I am using a US scanner in Canada .. and having no issues. The trick .. turn off Flex step. That seems to mess things up when using the US scanner up here.
