Hello all! I recently moved from Evansville, IN, to Groveland, FL for work (Cruise line!) setting up my Uniden BCD436HP was easy in the past. But I cannot seem to get it figured out. I have finally found the correction network, I believe. It is labeled "Public Safety Interoperable Communications." I have it set to scan all channels within that system. The channels appear to be recognizing contact, but i hear no sound. The only channel i've heard anything on in the 3 months i've been here is ZJX ARTCC.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

PSIC near 100% AES Encryption. Normally only stuff in the clear is some interop stuff from Coast Guard, and around the state.

Welcome to the RR forums. Aside from the aforementioned encryption, you're likely facing simulcast distortion if you're listening to one of the three Lake County simulcasts (North, Central or South) and are within range of two or more towers on the simulcast cell. Only mode "D" talkgroups are clear and can be scanned (public works & EMS in your county) but you'd be much better off with an SDS100 or SDS200 to bring in simulcast systems like this but it may not be worth it with widespread full encryption in play.

The PSIC sites that run through a lot of the east coast uses true SmartZone roaming. If there aren't any radios affiliated to the sites local to you on the active talk-group(s) you will hear nothing.

Is it possible to configure a particular talkgroup to be carried on a particular site full-time, even when no subscribers on that site affiliate with it? TNX.

Yes it is possible, but because of the majority of the sites outside of the Lake/Orlando area only having 2 or 3 voice channels the PSIC talk-groups are not set up that way.

As a listener you can not. Only the system manager can determine what site a talk group will appear on. A unit may also need to be affiliated with the site. Of course you also need to be in receiving range to hear any conversations from that site.

FYI.........
The system manager determines what sites a talk group and under what conditions a talk will be on. A talk group can appear on one site, all sites or several sites. It may only appear on a site if there is a unit affiliated to the site monitoring that talk group. A listener has no way to direct where a talk will appear.
