This came from Al Henney on the Scan-DC server; if you are in the DC area, or plan to be during the Inauguration, you need this information. Let the cries of 'how do I reprogram my scanner' begin :D
===================
After many long hours, this issue is now posted on the CHM Website!

Special thanks to Mike Agner, Greg Guise, Willard Hardman, Lewis
McCannon, Ron Perron, Mike Peyton, David Schoenberger and a couple
anonymous contributors.

Oh, and to Bob Pugh of Blind Spot News for his photographs from the
last inauguration.

It seems a list like this is never complete. This is just a stab at
it. The radio bands have been hopping the past few days with
inaugural activity. Please keep listening and post your findings on
Scan-DC!

CHM '05 Inauguration issue - .p96 available

I just finished getting together a .p96 file of most of the Fed/law enforcement, military, mutual aid & media frequencies from the latest [and greatest - thanks Alan & crew!] issue of CHM. If anyone would like a copy feel free to PM me and I'll email it out to you.

The file is also now available for download from:

For those of you that live in the DC area; I've placed a .mem file out on the ARC250 page of the Capitol Hill Monitors website that captures most of the frequencies listed in the newest PDF version of the newsletter. Due to time constraints, I didn't proof it as completly as I should; users should grab the newsletter from the website and make corrections/additions as needed. Note that only unencrypted users are listed.

The URL for the website is: http://henney.com/chm

Links exist on this page for both the ARC250 library and the new PDF Inauguration issue.

In addition, a text file dump (really it's a csv file) from that .mem file is available here.

One set of additions involves the Md State Police. Recent notes in the Maryland forum suggest that 151.475 and 155.19(normally barracks-barracks) have been used by other troops for talkaround. In addition, 155.73 (portables) probably shouldn't be ignored either.

For our Baltimore area folks; don't ignore the Potomac/BWI frequencies, both civ and military. No doubt that some flights will need to be redirected around the secured airspace around DC, and that at least some CAP flights might need to check in on the Potomac/BWI mil air frequencies as well.

Don't forget MSP 159.405.

Mike- Have you heard of any activity on 151.475 anywhere else but @ MSP JFK? I'd had the impression it was only in the JFK cars. Hopefully we'll soon get better info on what additional freqs are available statewide in the MSP portables.

No, but considering that JFK barracks is only about 1 hour from DC, and they might be involved at the Inauguration, it does stand to reason they might use their 'home' frequencies. After all, we don't exactly know which barracks will be sending units. Best to have the frequency and not need it.

This brings up an interesting question. Today I was listening to MPD Special Ops Division providing transport for officers of the Texas DPS & Fort Worth PD from National Airport to their various hotels for the inauguration. Does anyone recall from the last inauguration [or other large scale events like IMF/World Bank protests that required outside assistance] whether these departments used their home frequencies [either with mobile repeaters or in simplex] while here in DC? Maybe I'll try programming in a few to a V-folder in the pro-96 & see what happens. I think I recall something from a prior inauguration about NYPD bringing radios &/or repeaters with them.

Would the Metro Washington Airport Authority be involved in such personnel moving? If so, their freqs are in the newsletter...

And if you want to research the 2001 Inaug or the IMF protests, you might start with the back issues covering some of these events on the CHM website. Just a suggestion
I don't believe there were any follow up issues to report what was actually used (as I understand it, there might be this time), but it's a place to start. Of course, back then digital trunking was a dirty word :D

I checked out MWAA PD at the time and they didn't seem to be doing much of anything. Pretty much just a few guys from MPD's SOD playing chauffeurs with econoline vans.

Went back and checked and it was the Sept. '01 issue of CHM that mentioned NYPD bringing mobile repeaters. They're still just UHF non-trunked so guess I'll just check them out periodically the day-of unless someone want to chime in with what they remember from these other type of events.

Some additions for the 2005 Inaug newsletter, from Scan-DC:

Production Radio Rentals has just been issued a license for Inauguration
activities. The callsign is WQCA740. It's licensed for a 10-watt
repeater on 451.2625 and 27 4-watt portables on 451.2625, 456.2625,
451.4625, and 451.8125. The same company was licensed similar
frequencies for World War II Memorial Dedication events.

Dave Schoenberger

EWTN (a nationwide Catholic cable station) covers the event live with
multiple cameras. Camera operators are directed on 457.575.
[this was for the March for Life event, but could be used now mja]

When I've actually be able to receive the DC UHF trunked system, I've been searching for new TGs. I've found some not in the DB.

34000 -Sounds like the 1st Dist., references to 14th&I, 16th&I, Post 40, Post 48, Cruisers 8400, 9213, and 9234, Units 1324, Traffic72 and K9-3. They're also discussing locations for the floats for the parade.

I'll add more when I'm sure I don't have erroneous numbers due to a weak signal.
