Is Careflite still using the Megahertz system for ambulance dispatch? Every now and then I hear the Helo to Helo traffic, but no more ground units.

I know Hill County is now on their own trunking system, but wasn’t sure on the remainder.

Yes, the CareFlite air medical copters still use the Megahertz system. I am not hearing any ground unit dispatches, but I can hear all six of the copters communicating with their dispatch, as they handle inter-facility transfers or scene responses.

Generally, you might hear the initial dispatch traffic on TGID 8803, but often 8806 is used instead. Once the copter is airborne, they use TGID 8806 to communicate with dispatch. 8806 is by far the most active

Sorry, I was referring to ground assets. A lot of agencies have gone to radioless dispatch or PPToLTE only solutions, so I wasn’t sure what their units were using now.

They went to Logis several years ago and there is no more ground traffic. Some units still have radios but no one knows how to use them and dispatch does not even keep the radio channel up anymore.
It’s pretty sad
