Hi, using either a SDR or a Baofeng, is there any way to monitor Carteret Craven Electric Cooperative on 153.545? Thanks.

The database here shows the 153.545 frequency as being FM which would work with your Baofeng. However, their FCC license lists the emission type as DMR (7K60FXE) which cannot be decoded by your Baofeng. In that case, you would need to use a program like DSD+ with your SDR to decode the traffic. If you monitor that frequency with your Baofeng and just hear "data noise," then you can bet they probably switched over to DMR.

Though the data base shows it as FM, if you look at the license the emission designator is showing DMR ...
7K60FXE2-slot DMR (Motorola MOTOTRBO) TDMA voice.

Your Baofeng can not do DMR and as for the SDR it should show it, depending on the program you are using.

I would throw it into dsdplus and see if it isn't encrypted. For some reason Mecklenburg electric encrypted all their comms

I installed DSD+ on my SDR, and it seems to be decoding, but I'm not hearing any audio. I'll keep trying to see if I can actually hear anything.
