CBs are good for teaching two things:

1. New and exciting ways to use fowl language and insult women and minorities.

2. Why the founding fathers were wise to establish our nation up as a representative republic instead of democracy. CBs prove that when the mob rules only the idiots rule the mob.

Side-Banders not generally included.

I used them awhile back, it's a good way to get some info here and there but 99% of it on 19, is like the others said, I had a good set up, and I was back and forth from norman to the city, I got sick of the same guy all day long repeating, " I got my pink panties on, got my night cap on and it's time to go to bed" I finally pulled it out, several years later, I put it back, and the same SOB was still doing the same sh**. What was the question?

Yea, there was an idiot up here in Logan Co. that had a 1Kw+ Cb station rigged up right by the pickle farm on the I. Drove the truckers nuts with a warbler that sounded like the old Russian woodpecker from back in the cold war days. Here again I "heard" the FCC finally nailed him due to all of the drivers complaints? Never knew for sure.

I wish the FCC would do their job. In the Tulsa area the BIG Radios (Base stations running large illegal amplifiers) have ruined the cb's. I took mine out of my patrol car years ago. A woman was trying to make an emergency call for assistance and all of a suuden a big radio keyed up "bam bam bam audio Jam" These guy needs to be jailed. I have located some of them when I had a cb in my car. Jail would probably be a step up for them. Most os them are below trailer park trash.

I don't know the answer to your problem with your radio. But I think it's kind of tacky to hijack someones thread. I spend the summers in the 49th state and well still use CB's for communications in a few of the places I stay. Mainly because there is no cell phone coverage or public telephone service. Still a very useful tool. Good luck on getting your radio fixed.

Boy those were the days. In the mid 90s if you didn't have a "big" radio in the Tulsa area you didn't talk. Those guys were on the air 24/7 I think at one time I counted 7 base stations all at once and all scattered about on all sides of town. I don't have a CB anymore but I am told that most if not all of those guys got their radios and amps taken away and fined by the FCC. They were idiots but made for some real cheap white trash entertainment.

I know you said that you tried diffrent mics but have you checked the mic jack inside the radio to see if it might be grounding out? Its probably not much help but I've had that happen before.
