70KW? Thanks for the chuckle, such a rig is a tight fit in the typical double wide, would crush a Dodge Ram and takes a GE AC6000 alternator to power it. Hey, show up at a rally with a 6,000HP truck (or locomotive) and you won't need to "key down" to be king of the hill. (;->)

Al, I encountered one of those splatter boxes transmitting noise from 25 to 30MHz once, took a half hour to find the center frequency and still couldn't understand a word. With all the A holes like those posting here is it any wonder why I quit CB long ago? One wonders if they even care that it's that sort of morons who killed CB in the first place and gave it a stinking worldwide reputation. Even Smokey had a word for Bandit and his "good buddies" but I can't say it here.

BTW, now I'm pissed, I can't get a picture of the Harris 3DX50 Destiny to upload so you can drool on it!

Why drive all that way. I got a 60's ALL METAL Sears Craftsman drill. It shoots sparks and sounds as mean as a Cummin's diesel. It's an evil AM inhibitor. Gives a new meaning to "plug and play".

Monitor, you missed the point entirely, what you need is some street smarts so you can develop a good nose for bullstuff. If I could attach the photo you'd see how HUGE and HEAVY a 50KW transmitter is, there's no way in HELL anybody could fit one or muster that kind of power in a vehicle and that's that. CBers are well known for thier Baron Munchausen stories (like those fish tales about the one that got away) and frankly I've heard them all.

What you guys who believe in lies need is a math lesson. (Notice the lie in beLIEve.) Compute the power input in watts needed to generate that kind of RF output and convert it to horsepower. That will give you some idea of how powerful an engine is required just to spin an alternator to drive the thing. Don't get all fuzzy about it and factor in amplifier efficiency and other losses to overcome, all you need is a ballpark figure to see that you need the equivelent power of a locomotive just to generate the electricity. Once you have the figure compute the diameter of the conductors needed to carry all those amps and then try to figure out how to route them through a vehicle. One little footnote, the coax. RG-8U is rated at a maximum of 5KW so I wonder if these guys have figured out how to put 3" diamter nitrogen pressurized hard line in the pickumup truck.

Just for the sake of comparison let's take those messed up video tapes as an example of what you're witnessing. Consider all the broadcast remotes and taped interviews you have seen shot in intense RF fields and never knew it. I for one have seen them done atop the Empire State Building and WTC in New York and they're "picture perfect". Have you ever considered all the MEGAWATTS of RF coming out of but ONE UHF TV transmitter up there and how many transmitters there are? No pally, it's not the power that louses up the cameras but all the CRAP those poorly designed and constructed amplifiers put out that gets into the circuitry, intense RFI for miles around and you don't need much power to generate garbage.

Yup, it's amazing, simply amazing the sort of idiots and bragarts we find on CB but what's more amazing are those who are so easily impressed. If you believe them I've got a bridge for sale.

The only thing I find funny is thinking that anyone would ;
1) Spend the money to try to put a xxKW CB in a car just for some sort of competition (Talk about a pissing contest)
and
2) Actually believe anything like that is putting out 70 KW.
