I would say that for a starter CB a Uniden would be fine. I wouldn't go out and buy a radio like a Galaxy as a starter radio.

I think I would probably follow Bluegrass1dcr1's advice when it came to export type radios. Magnum is said to be a pretty good one though one would be wise to stay away from them especially beginners.

Just your basic Uniden or Cobra etc under 100 bucks and around the 40 to 50 buck mark would probably do just fine for most folks.

Hay scanrrman, just about the worst thing you can do with a CB system is cheap out on the antenna.It's the antenna that makes the radio,you could have a basic CB like a Uniden Pro-510XL and a top of the line antenna and get out great but on the other hand you could have the best export radio on the market with all of the bells and whistles but if you put a cheap junky antenna on it you won't get out worth S@#$ .Oh and stay away from RS, all of their CB radios are overpriced and the antennas are not of vary good quality.
