Has anyone in the capital district area received transmissions from the capital district 800 inter-county talkgroup in Albany County? I am monitoring the Albany County P25 system county cell daily and hear no traffic at all on the CDERN TG. I also noticed that neighboring county P25 systems also have the CDERN/Capital District 800 talk groups such as Saratoga and Rensselaer counties. I haven’t monitored them for a good amount of time but have picked up some traffic on the Rensselaer system CDERN TG. Does anybody know how active these CDERN TGs are and if they’re even used at all? It seems like the Albany County CDERN TG is dormant or is on the Metro Cell. Please advise.

I’ll listen this morning at 9am for their daily test. I think they still do that? I’ll listen on UHF 460.4000 and on two other radios. I know that I did hear it on one of the 800 systems in the past, but I am unsure which one.

Listened this morning for an hour from 8:30am to 9:30am didn’t hear a thing as far as a test goes. Maybe it’s not daily now? I know that the old analog frequency is still used for various things.

I guess we just have to keep listening!

Surprising! Did you monitor any of the P25 CDERN talk groups and hear anything around that time? I’ll try and do that tomorrow. I guess they just don’t want to deal with changing radios and frequencies/talkgroups so they just make a phone call.

Yes I tried to. Heard nothing on Albany, Rensselaer, or Saratoga Counties. As I stated above, I still hear traffic usually on 465.4000 somewhat regularly. We will keep at it!

Looking at the broadcastify calls for albany county, that talkgroup doesn't seem to have regular use. Saratoga has talkgroups on their system to neighboring counties as well as having a Capital District 800 talkgroup that doesn't seem used. I've heard rensselaer talk to washington on their system using "capital 800". The UHF CDERN with its many local agencies + county dispatch seems often BOLOs and such. I recall seeing fleet maps for a few counties and the inter-800 and other talkgroups for future use. They exist but may not be often utilized. A casual phone call between individual agencies is likely preferred these days
