• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I recently completed an install of a CDM1250 in a truck for a customer of mine. I am not in favor of wiring ignition sense due to the possibility of the ignition sense board having issues, so I wired an external relay with the relay activated from the stereo fuse. The issue I am having is that when the truck is started the radio will not automatically turn back on, causing the user to have to manually turn the radio on. What do I have to do in order to make the radio come on immediately upon power being applied?

Yep. You'll need to manually power the radio on every time if ig/sense is not hooked up and enabled in CPS.

When I wired my radios in the car, I used the 5 pin relay for the radio, but still used the ign sens wire, so when the car starts, the radios come on. I also used a 8 second delay device so the radio can not come on while the engine is cranking. Works GREAT. Of course since the base radios are on 24/7, I did not use ign sense for them.

Ignition Sense is the best way. I won't use any of the jumper tricks. They are prone to causing more problems than they solve because folks won't verify which pins they are jumpering before making the connection.

There's plenty of info already on here and elsewhere. Search cdm1250 ignition jumper The question you have asked has been answered many times over.

Always program the radio for Ignition Sense AND On/Off. It saves mucho heartache later on.

It may be helpful to search using wildcards.
If someone asks a question about one model,
the answer usually pertains to most, if not all.
They are all programmed with HVN9025 CPS.
The last version of the CPS released before the
product line was discontinued is R06.12.09.

If a radio will self power on without using ig/sense then possibly the best way to go is Havis Chargeguard. But that won't work in this case.

So Cali
The radio needs constant battery power other wise it forgets the last channel and scan settings.

So the IGN sense IS the way to go.
