Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm trying to reprogram a CDM1550. When I read the radio I get an error.
CPS codeplug version is not supported by CPS.

Unable to create layout for modelIndex 1, versionIndex -1, cpStdVersion 03.00

The software I'm using is
Version: R06.11.05

The radio was last programmed with Version: R05.10.02

Why I'm a getting this error?

Are you able to program other CDMs with the same setup? Are you sure it was last programmed with R05.10.02?

Could it be a bad codeplug? If it was or wasn't, would /\/\ be able to fix it possibly?

I also had the same issue with a CDM1550 recently. I was doing some CDM1250's just fine but could not read the 1550. I'm using R06.11.10 Is this why?

It could well be. The current version of the Pro Series CPS is R06.12.09. If the radio has been programmed with any version newer than the one you are using, you will likely not be able to do much with it. In some cases you may be able to read but not write, and in others you may not even be able to read.

I've had the same trouble. One day I can read and write a 1550 all day. And the next, I get an error. It just has its days I guess! Very frustrating at times.
