I get lousy cellphone reception inside my house, (AT&T)!

Is there some sort or repeater that I can use?

Thanks in advance!

You want to get a cell phone signal booster. They come in a variety of styles as some are quite pricy. The expensive ones function similar to a wireless router, cheaper ones are similar to a yagi that you point towards a cell phone tower. I've never used one so I can't speak to what works best, do some research on them.

They offer a 'MicroCell" or "Femtocell" solution that basically puts a micro cell site into your home that should allow good coverage throughout your whole house. It connects through the internet to route your calls back to AT&T. Not sure which one they're currently offering, but here's a writeup on one AT&T 3G MicroCell: A Cisco Femtocell Solution  [Mobile Internet] - Cisco Systems and a manual for one is here http://www.att.com/media/en_US/swf/3Gmicrocell/assets/ATT3GMicroCell_UserManual.pdf

They offer it for a fee (one-time I believe) but know of some folks that have gotten one free due to poor signal coverage.

The Microcell works well, there is no fee to use it, you take it home log into the website enter your info and it takes about 30 minutes to locate its gps position once it's ready it will let you know. You will need to enter the phone number of the people you want to be able to access it, keeps passerby's from accessing it. I used one for 2 years, no problem.

Another recommendation for the microcell. They work well. The cellphone boosters are technically illegal unless installed with the permission of the cellphone carrier, and they are susceptible to generating interference to other services. I've DF'd several and made the owners remove them because of the severe interference they can cause.

There's a slight catch sometimes overlooked that can get you in serious trouble. Repeaters, boosters or whatever you want to call them do not passively conduct signals, they retransmit them, therefore they are transmitters. As such and having more power than Part 15 devices they require a licensed operator and geographic coordinates, frequencies, etc. registered with the FCC and that's where the provider comes in. Belonging to the provider the same is the licensed operator so you're covered, if you install your own you become the unlicensed operator subject to a heavy fine by the FCC. In case you don't believe me check out the monthly publication of NALs kindly provided by the FCC, I have seen several.

Wirelessly posted (Moto Droid Bionic: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.4; en-us; DROID BIONIC Build/5.5.1_84_DBN-74) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

In the pines where cell sites are sparse, I've used the Samsung-made VZW "range extender" for quite a few years now. It simply plugs into the router. The unit does have a GPS receiver component, and that piece has to "see" the satellites. It was explained "why" to locate you in case of needing E911 services. Works fine. I have the router and the extender on a UPS. Range covers the house. I didn't have to do any data entry, but it may take up to 15 min for the initial GPS satellite fix. HTH.

Samsung-made VZW "range extender"? Go you have the model #?

I don't know a model number but the top Verizon Wireless Network Extender page in the VZW pile is Set Your Location. Frankly, I made quite a bit of noise about coverage and saved quite a bit off the SRP. Rant on: Why does it cost so much? I don't know. Rant off. And it does work for me. HTH.

Sprint will also hand them out for Free after enough complaining about dropped signals etc.

Altho being within a 1/4 mile of two sites, tells me there is something else wrong, but if they want to give it to me for Free , Fine.

For those with Smartphones, I have found OpenSignalMaps to be a great APP for monitoring and mapping out the Towers in/around my travels.

Yes I got it from my local AT&T store for $150.

With at&t I complained, they gave me a $150 credit to my bill to offset the purchase of the microcell.
