Can someone tell me if my favorite lists that were made in Sentinel and loaded on my Bcd436hp, can it be read from the scanner with ProScan and run without problems? I know I have to use Sentinel for updates.

I can’t find the Profile editor or the favorites list editor in ProScan like in Sentinel???
ProScan does not include a Profile Editor. Bob, the author of the ProScan software has stated several times that he did not think it was productive to try and reinvent the wheel on profiles when Sentinel’s profile editor does a very capable job.

So am I correct that Sentinel is only need for updates and editing your profile? Nothing else?

Firmware updates
Profile editor
HP database (if you keep this current on scanner)

nothing else

edit: thought of one other thing, formatting a new sd card

Got it thanks all. Starting out on ProScan but still have my head wrapped around Sentinel. Looks like ProScan is going to be the way to go. Lots more features.
In Sentinel, you can, of course, append a system from the main database to a Favorites list. That works easily on conventional frequencies used by a city, county, or other entity. But with large regional, or statewide, trunked systems such as MOSWIN in your state, the append process is more problematic. While, if you are careful, you can append only the Departments you want, Sentinel will automatically append all of the sites in the entire system. That can be dozens, or more than a hundred on some of the larger systems. Sure, you can wade through them & either delete the unwanted ones, or set them to avoid, but that gets old real quick. Yes, if you are using location control full time, the scanner will ignore the more distant locations, but they are still there.

On the other hand, since you are a Premium Subscriber, you can use ProScan to import only the specific sites & departments that you want. A much cleaner, & user friendly process, than trying to dodge an avalanche of extraneous data.
