Hello! Can you charge this unit with the wall adapters when the battery goes? That is what I used to do on my old Radioshack scanner. Thanks!

Yes. The supplied wall wart will charge and power your radio at the same time.

Thank you guys. I believe I may not have been communicated it correctly. Instead of buying a new battery for the SDS100 if and when the current battery runs out, could I purchase this AC/DC Wall Adapter to charge and use the device. Then just unplug it, when I'm finished using it?

My question is, with rechargable batteries, it's best to let them run down rather than leaving them on charge as much as possible if I'm correct. So at what level on the voltage meter on the display would you want to put it back on charge?
I ask this because I don't plan to turn the scanner off.

The radio monitors the battery voltage and turns on and off the charging as needed. I leave mine on and plugged in whenever it's not in use as a portable. And you do need to have the battery charge while on option enabled.

I purchased one of these just to have as a back up works good.

Thanks

The very bottom cut off point is 3.2 volts factory setting is 3.4 if I remember.

How about this?
or

I've been using one of these. Already has a 6ft cable attached, wityh the correct mini-USB end for the SDS100 or 436HP scanners, plus two additional USB outlets. 3.4amps output.
I looked at that one and I didn't see where it's 5v 2a. I think scanner master has one and planned to get one there if I couldn't find one at Amazon.
Thanks for the link.

Most USB outlets now have the standard high power of 2,1A and the scanner only charges the battery at a max current of 500mA and the scanner itself takes about 750mA as max. So 2,1A are enough to both power and charge the scanner at the same time.

The scanner turns off when the battery voltage drops to something like 3,2V and the setting you can do in the scanners menu are only to tell it when to start the battery low warning, if you want an early warning to still have an hour of scanning left or a late warning where you will only have 10 minutes until it switches off.

Look at the specs for the bottom one, that comes with a cable. It's 5 volts at 3.4 amps.

Of the other two, the top one is 4.8 amps, and the second one is 4.8 amps, or if using both ports, 2.4 amps per port. Your SDS100 will want just a little under 2 amps to be able to charge while also scanning.

Great, thanks. I'll get the one you're using.

Slightly off-topic, however, are there any "cool" accessories that any of you have purchased for your SDS100?

I was planning on getting this volt meter with the car adapter.

The "Drok's" are decent little unit's...
I have three of them that I use quite frequently...
They may not be super accurate, but close enough for government work...

I also use one of the Drok USB electronic loads to test out power adapters (Wall worts etc)...

So you can adjust the output current with that one? If so, that's nice because any adapter could be used with it?
