CCSO will be encrypted?? all of the talkgroups?? there will be no way to monitor even the main dispatch channel?? can anyone verify that?? if that is the case, one of my major interests within the hobby, is slowly dying. this is sad.

very distraught,

thanks waldo325. a few posts up, someone said that all of the sheriff's channels, as well as the animal control, would be digital AND encrypted. i was beginning to worry as some of us enthusiasts do when we hear of our favorite channels going to encrypted mode. my main interest is the main sheriff dispatch channel. if i can monitor them with a pro-96, as well as the fire department, i am all set. thanks again for easing my mind.

just for thought, ENC costs alot of money for each radio/console/etc. i dont see charles county having alot of money... then again... anne arundel just spent boocoo bucks on a system that they really didnt need for a few more years.

Charles County will have THREE encrypted digital talkgroups. All will be for the Sheriff's Office use only. No other county agency will have access to them. The four dispatch TGs and most of the TAC TGs will be digital, but not encrypted.

The Sheriff's Office will be mostly digital, but will have a few analog TGs for interoperability with other county agencies like publc facilities. There will also be analog TGs for interop with Calvert county and other 800mhz analog agencies.

Fire/EMS/Sheriff's will otherwise be digital, but not encrypted.

waldo-

the only thing your friend is wrong about is Fire/Ems...they WILL be digital for dispatch and TAC TGs. They will have analog TGs available for countywide emergencies. This is because the Public Facilities (i.e. Building services, county roads, etc) will not have radios that support digital operation.

All county services will have the ability to communicate on these analog "COEMR" TGs. But most fire/ems communication will be in digital.

Im pretty shure from talking to a dispatcher that FD/EMS,Vango, building survaces, and the county wide Emergency TG's will Anolog.

Anyone know whether the MSP LaPlata barracks is or will be on the system? It would be an interesting omission if not....
