I know there was a previous thread about this talk group, but I can't find the thread with a search. My question, and comment is I seem to hear a lot of traffic on TG 187 for a few days, and then nothing for months. Anyone know what's up? I don't think it's encrypted because I would see it pop up for a second or two on my SDS200 even if encrypted. I checked my favorites list and that talk group is programmed per the database including service type (Multi-Tac).

I believe it has to do with radio affiliations / demand on the system.

Hear me out, most of the users on Bridge-4 are consoles (meaning they're tied directly to the system.) If there are not radios monitoring that talkgroup on the RF system then the system will NOT not use a RF channel when a console keys up on Bridge-4. It just goes across the consoles and not across the 800MHz RF system.

Scanners will not affiliate to the system, not will they create demand for the talkgroup. So at least 1 official radio needs to be affiliated on this talkgroup for it to be monitored by a scanner.

I promise you that Bridge-4 has constant chatter throughout the day. (When listening from a console)

My 2 cents on the subject.

Interesting, I know last evening when I heard activity on bridge 4 it was after Union county called Medic on bridge 4. It may be that a neighboring county calling on the talkgroup did what you are describing. Following Union county I heard traffic between PD/Fire/Medic within Charlotte.

Yeah Bridge is used a ton between MEDIC and Charlotte Fire Alarm. See if you can hear it today at all, I'll park a radio on it.

Thanks for reply. I heard one exchange around 9 this morning on Bridge 4 but nothing since. I monitor one CMPD district as well as CFD and Medic. Everyone has seemed to be busy today. Constant radio traffic.

They've been on there today but not as much as usual. I've had it up since around 0730 over in the Mint Hill area.

My question has been answered. Radio traffic on Bridge is sporadic at best. Obviously they mostly use console to console communication as Low-Band commented.
