I had a client who called today and said that Cherokee has switched to P25 recently.

I do not see them listed yet as such either on TX-WARN or otherwise.

Any ideas?

About a week ago, I had chatted with a friend on the police force and he let me know that Jacksonville PD and FD/EMS as well as Cherokee SO would be moving to digital. As I find out more, I'll post here.

Cherokee County did convert to P25 digital on their conventional frequencies this week or last. They modified their license in April to add digital emissions. So far Dispatch and North channels are digital on NAC 463. The county fire channels and a couple of others still appear to be analog.

Jacksonville PD is expected to convert to a NXDN system when they get funding to buy the new radio equipment. Their license was modified in Feb to add the NXDN digital emission.

Interop is is a big question with these agencies now. Not sure why they didnt jump on TX-WARN.
