Hi all,

As of late, I can no longer hear cheshire county dispatch or any of the town pds I usually hear. I hear troop C and cruisers some but no cheshire county ...

Any info? I am very far away, but I recently could hear but not any more

Best

Hi Mark

The answers will likely be the same as it was in the other thread you asked about this.

The VHF band has been open for the last few days, even this morning. It is likely you were getting them through atmospheric conditions.

Do we really need to keep starting these threads ?
Cheshire County Dispatch , as of 5 min ago, loud and clear and *in the clear* from my location in Lempster NH.
If they were encrypted, you’d still hear the “squeaky/scratchy” digital ENC type noise.
I do find them a little difficult to monitor from any distance at times which is likely the situation you are encountering. For example my SDS 200 scanner connected to a discone on the roof *still* drops out on their signal about half the time and my house is about 7 miles north of the Cheshire County Line. I only get a strong , reliable copy from them running a Motorola APX Mobile Radio connected to one of my 2m/70cm HAM antennas
Also a little difficult to copy reliably while mobile. Don’t have a great explanation beyond not all radio systems are created equal and , more importantly , all receiving equipment is not created equal
