I was at the Chester on track event an noticed the Combined Chester/Blandford Police. Despite it being a rail event, I managed to forget my scanner at home. Grrrr.

Anyone know who or where either of these may be dispatched on. I would have to guess some regional center. One of the Chester/Blandford Police cars had what appeared to be a 800Mhz, a UHF and a VHF Hi antenna. The tint was a bit dark to see in to tell what was inside.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I don't know the answer, but this got me curious. Hampden County, Massachusetts (MA) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference and Hampden County Police Departments - Scan New England Wiki potentially differ on who does the dispatching and where it occurs. Seems like it could be Chester's VHF frequency, this system: Hampshire County Police Departments - Scan New England Wiki (which says Hampshire County but some Hampden County stuff links there), or somewhere on the 800 MHz CoMIRS system. Add in WMLEC and it makes sense that they'd have antennas for all those bands.

Hopefully someone will chime in with better information, but otherwise I get the sense that the answer is not well-known and it'd take some monitoring to establish.

Chester is dispatched by SP Northampton
Blandford is dispatched by the Berkshire SO

historically the Regional Dispatch Centers all use the local PD channels, with some wide-area exceptions

Berkshire tho has a Countywide Dispatch channel of 154.7400
and
SP Northampton has a Regional Dispatch of 154.7700

This is incorrect. It is one department dispatched out of Northampton control (81- units). Blandford FD for a while was still being dispatched out of Berkshire but they have also switched to Northampton and are using Chester FD’s channel.

That’s what I was looking for. I knew they were two separate depts, but couldn’t quite figure out where they went once they merged a few years ago.

Correct, :)
seems they moved from Berkshire SO to MSP in/around 2020 but my data source was never notified.

We are only as good as our data sources - Crap in = Crap Out
