the pics i took are too big, but if you go up the the stairs from my entry point out you get a concrete foundation followed by stairs up to the path and then another set of floors outside, building 2 has a 2nd floor, we have our building build that stairs go downstairs like a bunker then up to the parking lot, we have basic window frames, my scanner is picking up all the local trafic currently on the island, its a radio shack pro 97, it works well, so far when it scans it picks mostly the sheriff and fire/ ems, nothing else is like squacking, llol, however its intresting hearing allot currently on it.

If you have digital in your area, your missing allot more from the analog your getting now. For your purpose, I think a 436 will serve you well. Have seen them under $350 in the for sale section. Once in awhile, one comes up under $300.

currently i am researching the bct15x, bc125at, bcd325p2,bcd996p2,bcd536hp, im also looking to buy it at bearcat or scanner mater on 8/3, right before my birthday.
Happy Birthday. Great gift for yourself. Suggest you get a handheld so you can take it outside with you. The 325P2 would be my suggestion. Good luck with your decision.

my goal was a base station then if it works out a mobile a few months later, I currently have a radio shack pro 97 I use daily, with rechargeable batteries, currently, as I said my island is slow on the chatter, we are analog only, same with Skagit and Whatcom counties, I cannot believe how slow the analog channels are on a tourist trap of an island, lol, i live in Friday Harbor, in the San Juan Islands.

Happy Upcoming Birthday 🥳 🎂 🎉 !!! I have the Uniden BCD536HP and have really enjoyed its capabilities especially with the WiFi dongle. Also, you should seriously consider investing an extra $50 for @ProScan software not only for its programming features over and above Uniden’s Sentinel (you will still need Sentinel for any future firmware updates) as well as its monitoring capabilities and features. You can review all of ProScan’s capabilities on their website at:

After you open your birthday present to yourself, be sure to let us know what you gave yourself! 😂

Again, happy upcoming birthday!

Cheers! Dave K4EET

For the models you are currently researching, Ham Radio Outlet currently has the BCT15X, BC125AT, BCD325P2 and BCD996P2 all on sale until 07-31-2022 as part of their "HRO Summer Savings Event." All of those models are currently in stock and HRO also offers FREE shipping on all of those models. Keep in mind that you may find prices from other vendors on the web that are lower than HRO's sale prices on those selected models. YMMV

If you prefer to make your purchase from Scanner Master, they have a "Low Price Guarantee" and will match another seller's lower selling price per the terms outlined here: Help: Answer | ScannerMaster.com

If you are wanting to hear farther out, I would consider your antenna. The idea is to get it outside (if possible) and as high as you can with the best quality coax you can afford. All of the above might suit you better than a new scanner. A lot of people like discone antennas (several to choose from). A lot of people like https://dpdproductions.com/products/omnix-scanner-base-antenna (not a discone)
My Discone antenna washers rusted after 2 years. Guess have to take them off.
