private chopper, north and west of airport number two. sheriff tac1.

requesting uhp chopper. still seeking site. pilot is on the cell phone. says his "transponder is on" in some kind of a gravel pit. was headed to number two. copilot hurt bad, having tough time breathing. searching gravel pits in the area. lots of traffic on so tac 1. asking dispatch to see if pilot can hear sirens or see lights. patching to regional to talk to west jordan units.
pilot was telling dispatch he was following 8400 west when he went down. looking at gravel pits even to 5400 south. pilot now seeing three sets of red/blues and dispatch is having units move in a coordinated fashion to see if the pilot can confirm. area of 7200 and U-111.
Smart dispatcher having units turn lights on and off and having pilot confirm which units he's seeing. finally seeing headlines and headed in the right direction. one unit volunteering thermal imager if they can get close. pilot waving flashlight.
Unit has just spotted crash on 6600 west. two units now hiking up the hill. coordinates 6600 south and U-111 having medical respond to area. shuttling medical people in with 4wd vehicles. apparently it is in west valley. two persons confirmed, one with chest pains. second having trouble breating. both in their 20s. asking anyone hiking up to bring medical kit up. asking for equipment to "cut them out" of the wreckage.
