Hello all,
Just wondering who's looking forward to this years show? The Blue Angels will surely be the highlight ! I've Googled some freq's and will enter them in my now nearly empty PSR-300 and Pro-106 after deleting all the trunked systems that have gone ENC. I plan on being around Runway 23 as usual to catch some views.

**off topic...
I haven't been keeping up with scanning for the longest time, even some conventional freq's are quiet. I won't be buying any of the newer radios for some of the current systems, which is why I haven't posted anything in years, because I have nothing to contribute like new TGs or unknown freq's.
A long time forum member reached out to me wondering if I was OK, and yes I am, and survived C-19 without incident and hope all of you are well too. I have been lurking the ONT, HF and UTE forums as well, but my R-75 is very quiet as well...is the Cuban lady still around ???

Let's hope for good weather next weekend !

There will probably be multiple frequencies in use by the Blue Angels (in box, out of the box, etc). Hearing them on 255.200 and 237.800 right now.

What is the best place at the CNE to watch/listen to the airshow (without paying for the FlightDeck packages etc)

I'm here a lot
It would have to be at Ontario Place. The absolute best is having a friend with a boat and be in the clearance area on the lake. I did that a few years back for the airshow.
Nowadays, I just hop on my bike and head down to Sir Casimir Gzowski Park, find a shady tree to sit under and use my scanner to listen and phone to record video and snap pics.

Saw them practicing over Pearson Air Space earlier today around 11am. Quite the machine for sure.

Glad everyone is getting some comm's today. I did see a lone jet making some passes just as I got home. I definitely heard the roar from the shack !

Does CNE have any issues for bringing in radios?
Knock on wood, I have yet to have an issue with it. Once one of the CIAS staff wanted to verify it wasn't a transceiver.

Did anyone else get a chance to capture the frequencies for the other acts?

Hello all, first time poster here. I just want to add my observations listening to airshow practice runs today.

Blue Angels: 237.800, 255.200, 275.350
Snowbirds: 272.100

I'm centrally located in the downtown core. I don't have a view of the water where most of the action takes place, but I did see many overhead passes today.

Watching the online stream of the CIAS and the commentators are holding large radios up with massive antennas. Does anyone know if this is to monitor Boss Control, or what exactly they are for?

The Show Boss is standing right next to the commentators, I believe. I saw them on a headset system with a fixed antenna.

In terms of handhelds, the commentators had some pretty generic-looking civilian VHF units but if you saw people with large radios rocking a decided "1980s brick phone" vibe and massive antennas. That's probably military gear. Each military demo team has people at the announcer station monitoring the safety of the demonstration, co-ordinating with the Show Boss, relaying with the demo team announcer and so on. That's probably who you saw.

Yep, definitely the”1980’s brick phone” look and massive antennas. Looking closer, they had shoulder patches for the F-16 Viper Demo Team.

Just out of curiosity where were you watching the CIAS online?
