• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Good morning all!

New poster here but I've lurked on and off for a few years. I've ran into two issues I can't seem to solve and would appreciate any insight available. I didn't want to create two topics but if needed, I'll be glad to split them up.

1. I need the FVP-44 programming software for the FVP-44. The OEM is out of business (CimTech) and the link on their old website is broken. Phone's disconnected as well. I'd be willing to pay for a copy, donate to charity , whatever.

2. We have several radios in storage (VX-451s) and the batteries on all of them keep dying (LI-Ion and AA-packs) even when off. I searched and the only hit I got was on a P25 Motorola. Is this a parasitic draw issue, a fault of mine for not adjusting the settings, a temperature issue or a design "feature"?

Cimarron Technologies got bought/merger with AVTEC. I've not tried contacting them since, but avtecinc dot com /support or 1-803-358-3601.
They do have a little info on the ANI, but I found nothing on the FVPs or VDMEs. You might need to contact Motorola/Vertex and do the account thing. I don't see if it had a "CE" like other software on the old site like CE-73 for the VDME did.

2. Just a guess but the board and radio are probable drawing current. It could also be age. You didn't store the batteries on the radios? The Li-Ions were fully charged before storing? Not aware of any settings. Cooler for AA is better. I believe room temp (60-70) should be ok.

Best of luck!
