Hi folks,

I am just starting out and have acquired a Pro-95. I am still in the process of learning how to use it but think I've got the basics down. I just have a quick question concerning entering the frequencies for the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.

Do I need to program all 11 frequencies that appear on the reference sheet? Or should I just enter the 1 primary control channel and the 3 secondary controld channels?

Are there any other good frequencies that I might be able to pick up? I live in Homosassa (Sugarmill Woods).

Thanks in advance!

Your PRO-95 will do Motorola "Control Channel Only" trunking, so the four control channels should get you going.

Keep in mind that any of the other non CC freqs in the database could possibly be used as CCs at a later point in time. So, if you turn your scanner on one day and don't get a CC lock, plug in the other freqs until you find the new CC.

Citrus county rotates their CC's every 24 hours (under normal circumstances) so it's best to add all the frequencies.

At your location you should be able to monitor Hernando county and possibly Pasco (not sure tho, I think Pasco is EDACS), just a thought.

Yeah, best to add all four of the control channels...

I've been driving through Citrus every night for the past year and have never had to use any of the other non-CC freqs.

just wanted to say hello, and welcome to the RR site. I see this was your first post here, and you had a very good scanner question, worded properly, and right to the point. You will find many good answers here, from many great members. Happy scanning my friend !!

Many thanks to everyone for the replies! It has been very enlightening to monitor all of the transmissions from Citrus County. I've come across a talkgroup of 6352 which I don't see on the list. Any idea what that is for?

I've tried to monitor the Hernando County frequencies but really haven't found much.

Has anyone in this area been able to pick up anything besides Citrus County such as airline, CB, marine, etc?

just bought a Radioshack Pro 164 and live in Citrus County. The sheriff talk groups listed on another page of this site seem to be year 2002 info. ANyone have anything newer. This thing is a pain to program. Is Citrus still on Motorala II Smartnet? Who can I take this radio to around here that can do it for me?

I've had my scanner for a couple of weeks now and I've found all that needs to be done is to program the 1 primary and 3 secondary channels in and everything will be picked up.

The database was updated back in Jan. 2010. It's not 100% accurate, but certainly good enough to enable you to listen to SO, FR and EMS with no problems.
