For our Hastings and Quinte region listeners; Belleville dispatch is closing up shop today, Peterborough is taking care of things now.

From the City of Belleville site:

April 16 will be a historic day for Belleville Fire and Emergency Services with the closure of in-house fire dispatch. With the onset of new regulatory requirements for emergency communications and 911 dispatch centres, the City of Belleville has decided to refocus its investment into emergency response and critical resources needed to protect its residents, businesses and visitors, and enter into a five-year agreement with the City of Peterborough to provide fire dispatch services.

Previously, Belleville Fire and Emergency Services provided dispatch services for the City, as well as all departments within Hastings County. Over the last year, all participating departments have moved on to new services, leaving Belleville to dispatch in-house only while completing the transitional process to Peterborough. Effective April 16, dispatch will be hosted entirely by Peterborough Fire Services.

From the City of Belleville site:
Many will already know that Peterborough F.D. dispatches for Fire Departments in Peterborough County, as well as Northumberland County.

One of the Hastings County lower level municipalities is the Municipality of Tweed. Their fire department is now dispatched by the City of St Catharines.

Quinte West (Trenton) also signed on with St Catharines Fire for dispatch

From a St Catharines Fire Service PR: There are 16 municipalities in Hastings County who also use St. Catharines dispatch services including Bancroft, Carlow Mayo, Centre Hastings, Deseronto, Faraday, Hastings Highlands, Limerick, Madoc, Marmora and Lake, Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, Quinte West, Stirling Rawdon, Tudor and Cashel, Tweed, Tyendinaga, and Wollaston.
