As usual, the media did not present the facts accurately.
I picked it all up on the scanner (recorded) starting at about 17:20 up until the guy was apprehended at about 21:30. This was some pretty intense listening. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Department and Multnomah County were both involved. The Deputy District Attorney was also there as well as the suspects mother.
Police definitely used a LOT of tear gas during this event and although they hit the suspect with a taser, it was a police dog that convinced him to give it up.
This was one of the most exciting (and the longest) events I have ever heard on a police scanner.
