Just heard an aircraft call North Las Vegas Tower.

VGTs published tower freq is 125.7, not sure why they're using 119.150

The answer to this, and many other of life's great mysteries can be found at:
https://www.mccarran.com/fsweb/file/403719 -- pertinent section copied below:

VGT CONTROLLER TALK BULLETIN - Page 2 MAY 2017

Hello from all of the air traffic controllers at North Las Vegas Airport
Traffic Control Tower. Lately, there has been an increase in the
amount of air traffic at North Las Vegas Airport. From transient
aircraft/helicopters to our normal users from flight schools, tour
helicopters and Grand Canyon Tours, our average daily traffic
count has increased almost 50% from April 2016. As the air traffic
operations have increased, so have the number of air traffic
controllers in the Tower Cab.What does this mean?
1) With an increase of Certified Professional Controllers (CPCs) it
allows the Front Line Managers (Supervisors) to manage the two
Operational Tower positions (Local Control 1 and Local Control 2)
and the Tower Assist (Local Assist) position individually.
2) The three Tower positions are normally combined regardless
of the amount of air traffic within the Class Delta Airspace. When the Tower positions
are decombined, it allows the CPCs to divide the volume of air traffic while increasing
awareness and positive control.
What happens when Tower positions are decombined?

1.
The two Operational Tower Positions delegate airspace, runways, and taxiways within
KVGT’s Class Delta Airspace. The Tower Assist is an additional set of eyes for the
movement area and airspace while completing all adjacent facility coordination.

2. Frequencies
a. Tower (Local Control 1/LC-1) = 125.7
b. Tower (Local Control 2/LC-2) = 119.15

3. Airspace.
a. Tower (LC-1) = All airspace within KVGT’s Class Delta airspace NOT owned by Local Control 2.
b. Tower (LC-2) = All airspace within KVGT’s Class Delta airspace that is East on Run-way 12R/30L up to and including 3,000 feet MSL.

4.Runway and Taxiways.
a. Tower (LC-1) = Runway 12R/30L and taxiway Golf between Runways 12R/30L and Runway 7.
b. Tower (LC-2) = Runway 12L/30R and all taxiways East of Runway 12R/30L.

Until AVN/AEE returns in January, hard-up radio geeks in the Las Vegas area can get their thrills listening to Spearmint Rhino ( don't pretend you don't know what that is...) operations on 154.515/DCS311 -- learn when "Madison" need to be 'on-deck,' who is going to go yell at "Dakota" for showing-up late, etc. They put out a pretty strong radio signal. Several years ago, the Vegas Area Radio Geek Alerting Network Special Investigations Unit targeted the establishment & performed a close-in radio intelligence data acquisition mission there. While 154.515 wasn't active then, we did find security (before they found us...) on 157.530/203.5.

ULS License - Industrial/Business Pool, Conventional License - WQOM595 - Spearmint Rhino

To cool yourself off after your radio-geek workout on 154.515, I suggest 462.100MHz DMR CC3 -- the Conopco/Unilever plant (ice cream factory) in Henderson -- another facility with a much higher ERP than they'd seem to need. WARNING: Monitoring the ice cream factory comms is NOT SUITABLE for the average radio-geek. Hearing discussions about hundreds of gallons of cherry syrup, chocolate sauce, pallets of Breyers Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, etc. can cause you to get fatter.

Conopco, Inc. in Henderson, NV - (702) 564-0020 - Company Profile
ULS License - Industrial/Business Pool, Conventional License - WQBP756 - Conopco, Inc.

Mccarran runway change

Due to magnetic variation runways 7r-25l. And 7l-25r will change next month, the new runways are 8l-26r and 8r-26l. Will probably hear pilots questioning at first.

Briefly found myself caught in heavy traffic related to the Las Vegas Greek Food Festival
( Las Vegas Greek Food Festival ) this afternoon, so I spent a few minutes targeting them until I got out of the area.

455.900MHz -- KXNT RPU
161.730MHz -- KXNT IFB

152.725/173.8Hz Repeater (157.975 input) -- People/business involved in parking operations for the event. Saw one riding around on an unmarked UTV (with red emergency lights flashing...) scouting-out & reporting what area parking was full, etc. I've heard these guys in the past, at first I thought it was a heavy-duty towing company as they've talked about responding to major crash scenes, but now I'm thinking it's either these guys, or a similar company:
Traffic Control of Las Vegas Probably a similar company, as the traffic cones I saw just had the RTS manufacturer's logo, not the TCLV logo shown on the web page. The Barricade Company, LLC | Las Vegas, NV I saw plenty of LVMPD officers & civilians doing traffic control, etc.I never saw any individuals or vehicles (besides the one UTV) actually doing what I heard been discussed on the repeater.
I don't find any appropriate licenses for that frequency pair, just a few licenses like this one, which I think is obsolete or at least not valid for the actual use heard:
ULS License - Part 22 VHF/UHF Paging (excluding 931MHz) License - WPVF821 - Contact Wireless, LLC

I attended the Greek Food Festival a couple years ago, and at that time, key event organizers had DMR handheld radios.

Briefly lurked around my local high school during a football game tonight:

452.7125MHz DMR Simplex CC15 -- Coronado High School staff
CCSD School Police were on their West Dispatch channel
462.6375MHz (FRS #4) -- Game officials/referees -- "Rewind the clock 15 seconds." "Penalty on Blue Team player 48 for unsportsman-like conduct." "Come on, Fred, pay attention!" "I have no idea how to call that. Any suggestions?"
467.6125MHz (FRS 10) -- Game officials? Only briefly used.
CCSD School buses for the visitors were on their normal CapacityPlus DMR system.

I searched VHF & 450-470 trying to catch any comms of administrators from the visiting school (Durango HS) but heard nothing.

It's pretty creepy to be a guy born during the LBJ Administration, loitering in a ^%$* high school parking lot during a Friday night football game, but it's radio-geek stake-outs like this that make me The King of All Monitoring.

One other radio-user I found while driving by the Greek Food Festival: BellTrans is providing shuttle bus service between the parking areas & St John's Church. They're using their UHF trunked system -- WPUL438.

The Vegas Area Radio Geek Alert Network enjoyed a pleasant Monday evening imbibing in adult beverages yesterday evening on the patio of Atomic Liquors, watching the construction commotion for this weekend's Life is Beautiful festival ( https://lifeisbeautiful.com/ ) and eavesdropping on their associated communications which utilized 464.5875MHz DMR CC 11.

Speaking of Life is Beautiful, I heard NHP advise one of their units the event was on Tac 2 and they would be patched in. I also heard Metro mention it a few weeks ago while working multiple barricades. Has anyone found Tac 2 yet? Im searching for new IDs but have yet to find it.

Got a hit this morning on SNACC TG 2255, its a PD dispatch not in the database, possibly NLVPD. Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 2200 blk of Perlidder? Perleeder? The TG has been quiet since.

SNACC TG 2255 is active again, this time it sounds like its being used for a special event. Something about someone needing help at the radio station tent.

NV ARNG UH-72A callsign SHADOW 50 landed at Nellis this afternoon & will be on display during this weekend's Aviation Nation (it was also kinda cool to see a B-29 -- N529B -- land there, a few hours after seeing a B-52 land, and hearing two B-2As up in the NTTR last night). Shortly after SHADOW 50 landed at Nellis, I heard SHADOW 71 advise SHADOW OPs on 167.050 that they were 5 min out. I've occasionally seen the SHADOWs on ADS-B, but it they're not always using it.

I think SHADOW is one or more Nevada Army Reserve National Guard Companies/Dets of the 3rd Batt/140th Aviation Regiment -- a unit which has a couple detachments across the state, including one based at the NVARNG's Limited Army Aviation Support Facility at North Las Vegas Airport.

Due to their intended missions, UH-72 'Lakota' aircraft were ordered specifically with a good communications suite that'd allow them to interface with non-military LMR nets. The only UH-72 with an 50 tailcode I see listed online is UH-72A # 10-72150, which the web page states is assigned to a unit in Pennsylvania, any probably wouldn't ID as "Army 050" anyway.

Sure, 167.050 was once a national FCC assignment, but when's the last-time any reliable person heard activity on it which they could reasonably assume to have been FCC ops? It's been at-least 20 years for me, despite keeping that freq in my radios, and 14 of the past 20 years was living in areas that had FCC Enforcement offices (Northern California & SE Michigan).

I haven't heard that SHADOW traffic yet, but seems like it may be their Ops/flight-following channel, either local or statewide, instead or or in-addition to their more traditional ARNG channels in "federal" spectrum.

Since they have a homeland safety & security mission, maybe the Shadows will be active along with other NVARNG units during the New Year's Eve event.

YES! Finally, a second confirmation. Im glad Im not the only one who can hear that freq. If youre attending the air show, please ask the crew why they use that freq instead of the usual freqs.
