Hearing Metro on NVTAC81 and SNACC TG 1315

I can only assume SNACC TG 1315 is NVTAC81

Yeah, the dispatcher ID'ed it (1315 & link) as "TAC 81" last night when terminating the Rock & Roll Marathon net. Also ID'ed as TAC 81 a week or two ago when they did the big Interop channel test net as part of the New Year's Eve event preparations. That was a good one for figuring out/verifying all the patched talk-groups, as they did a lengthy roll-call/radio-check of all the key players, on each of the channels.

Briefly found myself caught in heavy traffic related to the Las Vegas Greek Food Festival
( Las Vegas Greek Food Festival ) this afternoon, so I spent a few minutes targeting them until I got out of the area.

152.725/173.8Hz Repeater (157.975 input) -- People/business involved in parking operations for the event. Saw one riding around on an unmarked UTV (with red emergency lights flashing...) scouting-out & reporting what area parking was full, etc.

Company is RoadSafe Traffic Systems, Inc.

I mainly listen to NLVPD Dispatch and feel like sometimes feel like I don't pick up everything. For example, this is what I sometimes hear.

Dispatch: 3 Ida 8 and 3 Ida 12 copy a call in Ida 6.
3 Ida 8: 3 Ida 8 Losse and Craig
3 Ida 12: and Lone mountain (only picked up the last of his traffic)
Dispatch: break, its between the PR and blah blah blah (I only picked up the last of the dispatchers traffic).

Does anyone experience this as-well? It seems like at times I don't pick everything up.
I know this isnt the scanner because when I listen to metro and other stuff I can hear it all.

Las Vegas Scanning

Welcome to Radioreference. We can help you with local scanning but more info is needed. What model scanner are you using? Let's start there.

OK 436hp

Are you new to this scanner? A few things above freqs and talkgroups need to be programmed. That scanner has location settings, I know you may not be giving it gps, but there is a setting for location. Also there is a setting for service types. Maybe all you are missing is the service type toggled on? There's Law-tac and law-talk etc'

I am not a newb or anything to scanning or the scanner. Everything is programmed okay and it works. I am just wondering why sometimes it seems as if I miss out on some of the stuff that is said when someone keys up their mic

Threshold settings

oh wait there was once a mention of the threshold settings for digital systems. Are your's factory settings? Per Each Site the options page...

Set Threshold to manual and level to 8 working for me. Maybe tweak it if you need to?

You're not dreaming. The BCD436HP does have a tendency to miss the beginning of transmissions or even whole transmissions if they're short. There are threads on here talking about it, but the cause is not known so there is no cure.

Around 3:45PM yesterday on 158.760MHz simplex, analog FM:

Female " Hey, got yer ears on? Can ya hear me?"
Male "I can barely hear you!! I'm at Railroad Pass!"
Female "Just crossing St Rose Parkway now!"

No further comms over several minutes. Likely two vehicles traveling on I-215 & I-515/US-93 heading N or S. With the radio I was using at the time, I couldn't easily check for a CTCSS/DCS.

Freq is listed as a Lander County SO channel, and also as a Nevada State Tactical Crossband repeater (channel NVTAC15), with a 155.580MHz input.

I mainly listen to NLVPD Dispatch and feel like sometimes feel like I don't pick up everything.

When that's happened to me, it's usually because I left the radio in scan, and it's started to scan & maybe tried to 'lock' on a TRS transmit site that I can't hear very well. Sometimes after a delay on that site, it goes back to scanning & will give me the talk-group mid-transmission from another site that the scanner receives/decodes well.

Another possibility -- if you study the signal strengths of one site's trunked system radio freqs, despite using the same location & often the same antenna, for whatever reason, RSSI signal strength can vary -- bad tx, combiner issue, or whatever.

Another possibility -- your receiver is getting de-sense, adjacent-channel or even co-channel interference on one or more of the trunked system frequencies.

Saying you hear the LVMPD system fine is great, but meaningless in terms of your NLVPD/SNACC system issue, so the reality is the problem could be because your 436 isn't programmed correctly for SNACC -- i.e. missing a tx freq from one or more sites or having the freq input incorrectly.

Heard today

Just heard that SHADOW 02 come up on 167.05 NFM. Radio checking with Shadow Ops and 03. First time I've heard them, certainly sounds like a Helo to me.

I believe that Laughlin is not an incorporated city but operates on the Las Vegas Metro PD 700Mhz trunked radio system.

Laughlin is definitely not an actual city. It is a township in Clark County and completely governed by the County. Las Vegas Metro Police are Law Enforcement and Clark County Fire for fire supression.

ok thankyou

do you have any idea what talkgroup they are on?

Not sure. They always used to be on Admin with the other rural/resident officers. That’s where I’d look first (talkgroup 10010?).
