Lately, I have been unable to pick up Clemson PD on my BCD486 scanner. I am not sure if they went to some new frequency or type of radio. I know that Pickens County did last year, and they come in fine. Any help would be much appreciated.

Please clarify: You're not hearing them on Palmetto 800?

They used to have the Palmetto 800; it did not pick up well in our county, so they went back to conventional frequencies. I am going to try the Palmetto 800 frequencies again.

Keep in mind that they may only be heard on the Clemson site of Palmetto 800. If you're in Central, SC, then that's the site I assume you're monitoring since that's the closest. If not, try Seneca site. I seem to remember that the usage of the Clemson site is rather limited. But don't assume that all talkgroups are carried on all sites all of the time.

This doesn't have anything to do with the 800 system, but I was just curious if the City of Clemson uses any DMR. I got a strong hit on 453.925 Color Code 3 Slot 1 TG 801. I'm hearing stuff such as "Clemson copy a 28" and dispatch mentioning 'unit 221' and what sounded like 'Clemson B5' and SC plates being ran. I know that they used this frequency in analog mode. Their license WPUD816 does have analog and DMR emissions. I just stumbled upon this and thought I would ask. I do apologize in advance if this belongs to another DMR system for another county.

Can you check 460.2625 for activity and determine the Color Code, Slot, and TGID if it is DMR? It is also licensed to Clemson PD. Thanks!

tvengr,

I will check 460.2625 to see if they are using DMR on this frequency and if they are I'll post the info.

Thank you!

tvengr,

You're welcome. I noticed that the transmitter address for 460.2625 is 740 Issaqueena Trail which is Clemson Fire Station 2 so maybe the Fire department is using this frequency? As of now, there has been zero activity on DMR or analog and I've been monitoring for a few hours now. I'm not giving up and will continue to monitor!

Under Eligibility on the WPUD816 license it states: 90.20a - GOVERNMENT ENTITY- RADIOS WILL BE USED TO COORDINATE DAILY POLICE ACTIVITIES. I sas thinking that 460.2625 may be a tac channel. Time will tell. Thanks!
