Initially I had the same problem with clock. I was always one hour ahead or one hour behind. Sometimes it would have the correct time. But when I turn it off and back on the time would be off.
Now the problem seems to have gone.

If that is the issue we discussed before, did you change the time zone?
(I discussed it with someone who I advised to use the correct time zone)

I was ranting about the clock situation a few weeks ago and almost got thrown off of RR for my efforts.

It's a design flaw neither Uniden or the Uniden fans here wish to acknowledge.

One of many on what would otherwise be very good scanners.

Surely it can't be operator error. We all know that is impossible.

I, like many others, have not had any issues with the clock. But, we most likely allowed the clock battery to charge.

Why should anyone acknowledge a problem that does not exist for all but a few, let alone agree that it's any design flaw?

I bought my 436 used several months ago on ebay, and the clock was already set by the previous owner. I haven't had to touch it. There may be a few radios with defective clock backup batteries, but it certainly is not a "design flaw".

So, if a group of users state they allowed the scanner to stay on for over 50 hours and still experience the problem, it is all "operator error?"

If a dozen or so radios have defective clock batteries out of tens of thousands of units sold, is that really a "design flaw"?

He seems to be immune to logic - probably not worth it to fight with him any longer. People who don't constrain themselves to sensible arguments have limitless ammunition to throw at you.

I have to set the clock every time I turn it on. I've charged the unit for days, but the same result.

Same here. Set once, and that was it. Mine runs pretty much 24/7. About the only time it's off is when I'm out and about, and I turn it off, then put it in the glove box to get it out of sight when I'm away from the truck.

Date set right? Although a daylight savings time would only account for one hour, not two.

Mine hasn't lost or gained a minute in many, many months. It's surprisingly accurate given a battery powered device.

If you want it to change, set it to ON. If you don't want it to change, set it to OFF.

Most people would want it ON. Do that, and set your time zone, and you should be set and won't have to change the time in spring and fall.

About the only places you would want it OFF are places that don't have any time change - like parts of AZ, I think.

When you say set time zone are you referring to those numbers also? There are a whole bunch of lined numbers that I don't understand so I do not mess with that adjustment.

For Cali, I believe that is UTC-8 hours for Standard time which is what we are in now.

If you set the time zone offset at -8, and Daylight savings to ON, your scanner will theoretically never need the time set again. It will switch forward in the spring and back in the fall all automatically.

If you don't know these two settings, it's no wonder you are having clock issues.

Actually, having the wrong time zone set would also throw off the time it sets the clock forward or back. It should happen at 2 AM on the appropriate days.

Usually it's a 2 hour difference but the figure you mentioned -8, I think mine is set at 6 if it is the same thing with a different setting. I will have to check as I don't have scanner with me right now.
