I was wondering how you set the bands for close call to achieve optimum frequency detection. My menu includes: pager, FM, UHF TV, VHF TV, NOAA WX, bands 1-10. Which should be on and off?

It will make individual checks on each band that you turn on. You should turn on any bands of interest...

EDIT: That actually looks like the selection for broadcast screen...which prevents hits on frequencies in the turned on selections.

So, to get more hits, one should turn all bands off?

Depending on your radio model, you should be able to go to your menu, scroll down to close call, then scroll down to set close call bands. turn on the bands you want to get hits on. This is how the menu is in my 396t.

If you want to listen to just a band or two, you might get more hits if you turn off the other bands because the scanner has to go through all of them and you might miss something on the others.

Speaking of which...

I noticed while looking at the close call band selection, that there appears to be "activity bars/levels" or something to that effect, above the band choices.

Is that what those "meters" are indicating? And if so, why are there no "hits" being registered?

Can anyone shed some light on this?
