I do have a problem that I don't understand, I pickup my gmrs radio 500 feet+ with close call but at church it won't pickup up the microphones even 5 ft away. 490mhz, If I program it in it works fine even
A quarter mile away. Any ideas for this one? Close call says 320 to 512mhz I don't believe it.

You probably have the Broadcast Screen for UHF TV turned on.

If they are anything like the wireless mics I use they are only 20-30 mW.
I think the SDS needs a little more power from the transmitter to capture?
Also, are they digital mic's? You won't here anything period. Not even a digital sound like you would on DMR or P25

So just for clarification, if you turn it on for those services, it will not allow you to hear them,
If you turn it off, it will allow you to hear them.
Is this correct?
Correct:
When a broadcast screen is turned on, the scanner will ignore any traffic found on a matching frequency during search or Close Call operation.
