Well if you're sure they're R2s, per the data sheet they come in VHF 136-174 MHz & UHF 400-480 MHz band splits. You can certainly search these ranges and see if you come up with any hits if close call is giving you zilch. If you hear data noise like this then you may have found your answer. Alternatively you can get yourself an SDR paired with an app like SDRConsole so you can keep an eye on swaths of radio spectrum within the aforementioned ranges. The SDRPlay line can cover 10MHz (about 8Mhz or so usable) of spectrum at a time. If you want to decode what you hear (sans encryption) then consider DSDPlus FastLane

Good luck!

my BCD436HP no longer decodes Digital signals
There might be a firmware bug if you try and decode simplex DMR and have set the digital threshold to manual mode, it needs to be set to auto.

Push the Channel softkey button then enter the frequency that doesn't decode digital and then finish by using the Channel button again. Then there should be no restrictions in the decode process and if the signal strength are enough, at least one signal bar, and the digital protocol are enabled by the proper key in the Upgrade menu. If it then doesn't switch to digital it indeed are failing in its digital decode.

I would then try to load an earlier CPU and subprocessor firmware by putting those files in the SD cards firmware folder and downgrade and run the scanner and try it out and then upgrade to the latest firmware again.

I started a thread there on the forums,
BCD436HP/BCD536HP: - BCD436HP unable to decode Digital signals
and i have tried all the suggestions with no joy, including firmware reinstall.

I was hoping there will be a firmware update for 436 following the latest firmware released for the SDS100 that i could try. But am afraid the problem might be with the chip as was mentioned in the thread.

You can try a factory reset by holding in 2-9-dept while powering on to factory reset it. Then enter that frequency manually channel+freq+channel before programming anything to the scanner. Check the Setting/Upgrade setting that it doesn't have any Upgrade DMR info as it then has lost the key and needs to be entered again.

Then send it in to Uniden and be clear about what keys you have bought so they will restore them when they switch out the CPU board.

Just tried the reset factory reset one more time, and it’s still unable to decode Digital, only the raw digital audio comes through with it in manual search/hold.
Scanner still says my DMR and NXDN already Activated.

I am currently out of the states so am contemplating ordering a new unit and sending this one in for repair when it’s convenient.

Thanks for the help.
