BCD160DN/BCD260DN: CloseCall

I have always been a big fan and user of CloseCall, I purchased the BCD160DN knowing that it didn't have CloseCall, and I do use the band scope feature a lot.

Does anybody have any ideas why CloseCall was not included?
- Technical?
- Cost? (The lower level models have this, so I don't think so)
- Marketing? Didn't want it to take sales away from other models.

Was CloseCall removed, so band scope was added or was band scope added and then they had to remove CloseCall?

Additional hardware (and perhaps licensing) is required for the CloseCall feature and it apparently was decided that the feature would not be needed on this scanner. If it were included the cost would have been higher.

Would have added to the cost. Seemed during the time of this release, others were coming out with radios for rail and airband. May have kept mine if it had close call. Still a pretty good radio for the cost.

My Theroy:
"As the BCD160DN / BCD260DN are both sold for DMR and NXDN and these modes don't work well with CloseCall, Uniden decided to not include CloseCall to save confusion and support tickets / calls, when users report that they can't hear (random DMR/NXDN user) using CloseCall".

Maybe I am right, maybe I am wrong

As the BCD160DN / BCD260DN are both sold for DMR and NXDN and these modes don't work well with CloseCall

NXDN works just fine with Close Call. And DMR repeaters works just fine also.

I have close call on my 325P2 with DMR with no issues.

CloseCall requires separate hardware, that works like a frequency counter, and that will add to the cost so they removed that hardware.
