I have been working on organizing my shack for a VERY long time. Its difficult cause it is a small rectangular room with windows and other things in the way. The first pic is my MAIN radio desk. That stack of radios on top of an Astron 35m power supply contains an SDS200, BCT15X, BCD996P2 scanners and Kenwood TM 241A vhf, and Alinco DR-600. That scanner rack apparently wasn't enough. In center rear of desk is IC 7300 with LDG Z-100 plus auto tuner. HF antenna is G5RV as inverted "V". Computer used at this station is an HP Z420(!) server modified for home use. I had to send away to China for the 32GB of RAM that fits it. Has a SSD.
The pic on right is my Linux station which I can use to run FT8. I use the Linux version of WSJT-X...works really well. I also run an RTL-SDR dongle with SDR TRunk (Linux version) which also works very well on Linux. The Linux I am using is MX. Computer is HP Z210 with SSD. So Since I retired I am always fooling with all this stuff and now have 3 stations in this room. The station below right, wooden desk is my music production desk. I am multi instrumentalist and run Mixcraft software on an HP envoy I got myself in 2016 as a retirement gift. I had planned to move the recording station downstairs cause I am not using it at the moment. I play mostly guitar, keyboard, bass, everything except drums. My style is quirky gothic modal jazzy stuff. So I am taking an extended break from recording till later in Fall. I already had enough material finished and on my websites. I want to play radio again, especially ham radio since I have been out of the hobby for 20 years. I have been up in this room since 2011, formerly I was in a big finished basement room. But my Son now lives with us and he stays in basement room for Summer and in Winter he has a small bedroom on first floor. I would like to consolidate but I like putzing with computers so much I can never get motivated.

@bobruzzo , if you think that's 'cluttered but workable', I'd like to see your example of 'highly functional and finely tuned'.
Nice work!
Well if that window was a little smaller and higher up I would build a "U" shaped desk that would fit in that little space there. Computers take up a lot of space. And I constantly need access to the USB ports. The big basement room was ideal as my recoding studio when I firest moved here in 2008. I wasnt doing any radio back then. But if I was to move back down there it would be a huge project moving all my antennas to reach that part of the house.

Ditto. That's positively spotless, especially compared to my workspace.

Looks great, nice use of the available space.

If you want to relocate the computer consider placing a hub on the desk or even just a simple USB extension. Back when I had large tower cases that worked well for me.

Using a converted server for desktop use often comes with fan noise issues, if that is the case Noctua has fans you can replace with that reduce or eliminate the noise. I used them on a recycled server that used to sound like a 707 at full throttle.

I first started out with 2 computers.....now a third one has grown. I had been using a big HP Z420 server for all my radio stuff. But after upgrading my smaller HP Z210, it will run all my radio apps just fine. The Z210 has MX Linux on it on an SSD...24GB ram....runs very smooth and quiet. I managed to install FLDIGI, WSJTX, SDR TRUNK and FLRIG (the linux versions)and the software for my IC 7300. And those programs run great on Linux. The only programs I can't get to install or work is CHIRP (for my Baofeng HT) and SENTINEL and PROSCAN. The CHIRP program for Linux just plain wont work. And Proscan and Sentinel are Windows programs. So since my Z210 is a dedicated Linux computer, I will still need the big 'ol server Z420 for Sentinel and Proscan. I do have 2 USB extensions cable running to my Z210 for SDR TRUNK and my IC 7300.
