I'm trying to compile a list of the system numbers used. So far I have the following:

Central – System 3
Metro – System 3

Hickory Grove – System 4
North Tryon – System 4

Providence – System 6

Westover – System 8
Freedom – System 8

Can anyone fill in the holes, particularly South/Steele Creek/Independence?

Dog catchers are on System 11

Please keep in mind that the system numbers you are listing are only important if you are tuning a CMPD car or handheld radio. We might say that the Central Division is in our scanner bank 3; in police terminolgy it is in System 3. They would then punch the up or down botton or turn the knob to 3. Then they would hit a button or turn a knob until they found the correct TG in System 3.

Yep, I understand that.

My motivation here is to create a system in my 396 where each group represents a system on the cmpd radios.

I usually listen to just the south division talkgroups. Occasionally I'll hear them say go to system X for whatever. When I want to follow that I'd like to have another system set up where all I have to do is turn on that system then punch in the appropriate group, i.e. system 3 (central/metro) would be set up on my city wide system as group 3.

That way I don't have to hunt for the central talkgroups on my citywide system.

Like your organization Scott:)
I have the different division names as individual groups and I have each TG use loaded the same way within each division group so at least it's quicker to get to a different TG when the action moves. (i.e. Metro Dispatch, Conf, TAC, Central Dispatch, Conf, TAC)
I use one individual group labeled SCU to cover all division's SCU's.
I would love to be able to get a complete listing of divisions but even that seems like it may not get done.
Still trying to get a definitive answer on what Division 24 is...

Bill,

I'm still using your template for my citywide system and it works great. I'm going to keep that system intact for when I want to isolate one particular division.

It appears that the system #'s define multiple adjacent divisions, i.e. central and metro, westover and freedom. I like the idea of being able to toggle on a general geographical area within the system rather than toggling multiple divisions. Having it correspond to the actual CMPD format it just another plus.

Actually, I'm just having too much fun with my 396 and continuing to find new ways of setting it up!

Sorry David, I called you Bill, not paying attention.

You had emailed me your systems when I first received my 396.

Sorry about that.

That's all good stuff. I've got 99% of all that programmed in me BC246T. One quesions about the TA-x talkgroups. I know the NATL TAC channels are off the trunked system, how about the TA-x channels? Can they go simplex on the NATL TAC channels?

Missing talkgroups

Derek,

Thank you for such a great post. A bunch of the talkgroups in your tables are not in the data base (CEU, CDIA-TACT and many others). Could you post a file with that would show the talkgroups you have programmed into your scanner? Thank you very much.

Derek ... you're a braver person than me. But I also thank you for the information.

I had a copy of the CFD mobile radio template, given to me via an e-mail attachment last fall. I saved the e-mail, but (unfortunately) not the attachment. In retrospect, not one of my better decisions !
