By Coatesville Fire Department July 1, 2010 On July 1st, 2010 The Coatesville Fire Department was dispatched to 36 S. Sixth Ave for the reported dumpster fire.
Engine 41-2, Ladder 43, Ambulance 41-1 and Chief 43 (Johnson) all made the response and were advised by the 911 center of a dumpster to the rear of that residence on fire. Ambulance 41-1 arrived to confirm a working dumpster fire with exposures to a garage and a fence. Construction workers working on the house advised the responders that kids were playing with fire works and threw the fireworks in the dumpster.
Ladder 43 and Engine 41-2 arrived and led off with an 150 feet of 1 3/4 hand line on the front bumper and immediately started extinguishing the fire. Chief 43 arrived and assumed the "Sixth Avenue command" placing the fire under control.
Engine 41-2 used 500 gallons of water to extinguish the fire and to wet down the exposures. Command then made the city units available while terminating the command. Units: Engine 41-2, Ladder 43, Ambulance 41-1 COMMAND: CHIEF 43
