If I was to use 50ohm Rg-213 on the Scantenna which is 75ohm. What will be the worst that happens. Keeping in mind the scanner is 50ohm too.

If you haven't already purchased, or have the RG213 cable, why not just use a good quality RG6 cable. It's 75 ohm, and we know that will work fine, even though the scanner's antenna connection's is 50 ohm.

Or, wait and see what the experts say.

What brand and type of Rg-213?

What bands do you care about and how long is the run.

In general the difference between 50 ohms and 75 ohms is immaterial on a wide band receive only (scanner) antenna.

I would bet that the antenna impedance is not even constant across much of the receive band.

RG-6 have about the lowest loss and best high frequency characteristics of any inexpensive cable.

If the scantenna has a type "F" connector just get a F to whatever connector you want and use good quality LMR 400 or rg213 50 ohm low loss cable.I always thought that Rg6 has worse inserion loss then a good 50 ohm cable. You also might encounter a VSWR loss going from a F connector to a 50 ohm connector.
Thats my 2 cents....Good luck,
Jack

Well the rg-213 is going to be a trade for something else. Right now I have RG-6 but I just wanted to know if I will encounter any issues using the rg-213.

bands are anything from 140-175 and the 400's and the run is about 50-60feet.

You are going to have MORE loss with the RG-213 than the RG-6.
Probably not noticable more.

Hmm Maybe I will just keep the rg-213 on the dual-band and goto the local Sat. Dish store and get some RG6 awg18 for the scantenna. I have rg6 on the st-2 now but I think I can get some better stuff.

With Receive cable you should not concern yourself about the quality of the shielding.

Do be concerned about high frequency loss. The base way to guess it the high frequency loss is to look at the insulator. The more air the better.
A light foam is better then a solid plastic.
A spiral rib of plastic is better than foam.

RG6 will do just fine, if You have a long run, get Yourself a amp, I personally use a tv preamp with good results of 100+ run of RG6.
