• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have a Motorola XPR5550e Model AAM28TRN9RA1AN When you try to program it the Codeplug password window comes up. Is there a way to reset this so I can access the radio. Thanks for your help. Dave

I know this subject may be some what dated, but did this get resolved? I have a XPR5550e model AAM28TRN9WA1AN which is the Dashmount unit the codeplug may be compatible with the remote unit model through the cloning method. I have cloned a XTL5000 series Dashmount with a Remote Mount codeplug file in thd past and ig is worth a try.

Let me know if you want to try my blank codeplug file and there are no passwords.

Same thing happened to me, the codeplug would be preferred! I assume the CP is for the XPR5550e.

Do you need my email?

Here is the blank codeplug from my XPR5550e.

Well, it appears that I cannot attach a codeplug file because of the type of file extension. I would need your email address.

I haven't heard anyone ever getting by a password. I spent almost 3 hours the other day with a software expert trying to get by a password using Hex Editor to modify the .exe file and he was unsuccessful.

Oh well, I really hated to throw away 24 perfectly good working radios and 3 multipocket chargers in the trash.

Are they now putting a password protect on MUC's?? Really no reason to throw away the stuff. Even used radio housings have value if you can't figure out how to get past the password.

The dealer that last programmed the radios put a password on the codeplug files. That dealer is no longer in business and the previous owner of the radios, has no idea what the password is. The radios were given to me at no cost and now they are nothing more than paperweights now and I'm not going to keep them for parts, I essentially don't need 24 more radios and I don't need the money, they are of no value to me.

Cool, drop the address of the dumpster they are going to be dropped at and I'll come pick them up

Just because you don't know how to get rid of the passwords doesn't mean that someone else can't make use of them, especially the MUCs

In So Cal I hand a guy the radio with a password and he hands it back a few minutes later without a password. There are many people who can do this for free or a favor with XTL/XTS/APX/XPR. etc.
So you have a contact for him lol I’m in central California
