COMMUNICATION ERROR USING WIN 96 (Please Help!)

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if you could help me. I can't seem to get my Pro-96 to connect w/ Win 96. I have had no problems up until today making a connection. I DO have an HP 2215 / Pocket PC with Microsoft Active Sync, BUT...the Pocket PC is not connected nor is the sync software open. When I attempt to UPLOAD or DOWNLOAD to / from scanner, I get a message that says: UNABLE TO OPEN THE PORT: \\.\COM1

Any suggestions?

Are you using the latest version of Win96? 1.31. If not, download the latest version and try it.

Upgrading from a previous version
To upgrade, merely download the new version of the ZIP file and extract its contents into the same folder where you currently run Win96, overwriting the older version. If you're a registered user, your registration will not be affected.

I was actually able to solve my own problem. While I THOUGHT that ACTIVESYNC was completely disconnected...it apparently was still lurking around. So, what I did was change the COMM PORT that I had ActiveSync on to another port while I am using Win 96. After i am finished using Win96, I am going to switch it back. Not too much of a big deal. Hopefully this might help someone else.
