Greetings!

I apologize in advance if this is posted in the wrong place. I scoured bot forums of RR, Reddit, Google searching including Youtube but decided to post here as this place has the required knowledge for what I am trying to do - if it is possible.

I have an RTL-SDR Blog v4 connected to my PC while the opposite end, the dongle is safely outside with antennas pointing eastward in the sky. The USB connection is 30FT and took mew a few weeks to make various tests to get this setup perfect. Works great for analog or ads-b but I was searching to see if I was able to pick up my area's law enforcement and noticed they are mostly using NXDN48 ( it is a small county and they all share frequencies with Whitesburg or Jenkins ) - Letcher County, Kentucky (KY) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference . State police is using P25 which I know would work with DSD+ but need two dongles so I am only worried about NXDN for now.

I was going to purchase Uniden SDS100 ( possibly the SDS200 ) but Google brought me articles that this can be done with SDR.

I am using SDR# Studio v1920 with latest version of DSD+ with Fastlane. My first issue is when setting SDR# to use my virtual audio cable, and set up my PC to listen, I get nothing. No sound. If I run DSD+ it does recognize the Virtual Audio Cable input and Output and do see it trying to do something, but I am unable to hear anything. I even switched my RTL-SDR mini sink to use the same virtual audio cable and I am able to hear sound. I use this setup to stream NOAA Weather Radio for Eastern Kentucky. I have 3 different virtual audio cables and tried all three but still no sound. Played around with squelch and same issue.

I am pretty sure I am doing something wrong or maybe it is working but still dont know enough yet, I am not sure. Pretty sure There needs to be sound to where I can verify if this is working or not. If anybody can provide a good tutorial on this much will be appreciated! Also any feedback or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

DSDPlus FL doesn't need any sort of virtual audio routing at all. In your DSDPlus FL folder run 1R.bat and FMP24.bat. Reserve SDR Sharp for non trunking signals. It will decode NXDN.

Reminder
only 1r.bat and FMP24-CC.bat.

A tip most people do
Easy method to start from desktop:
-Make a new folder in C:\
-Rename it too DSD Plus Fastlane
-Copy all contents of your current folder into your new C:\DSD Plus Fastlane
-Use the old one for backup
On your desktop:
-make a new text document on your desktop. not a rich text document. copy and paste everything in the quote below into the new text document. Save as .bat not .txt.
Nifty shortcut to DSDPlus Fastlane without the need to open up its folder to run batch files.
@echo off

CHDIR C:\DSD Plus Fastlane

START CMD /C FMP24-CC.bat

START CMD /C 1R.bat

Actually that should be: FMP24-CC.bat and 1R.bat

Mike
I figured this out few minutes ago. Thank you!

This is helpful! I am getting very close! Only issue I have now is running fmp24.exe = no issues.
Running 1r.bat gives error = FMPx link error = -5

Startup Trunking Site Load: Failed - no FMPx link
FMPx link error = -5

Everything looks to be set up correctly according to
DSD+ Trunking Tutorial and DSDPlus/HowTo - The RadioReference Wiki so I am currently investigating this.

DId you modify the FMP24-CC.bat and 1R.bat files in any way? By default they are set up so they establish a direct link to each other over link ID 20001. If you edited those batch files and changed things in any way, that can cause the two apps to not communicate with each other.

1. start up FMP24-CC.bat
2. start up 1R.bat

In the DSDPlus Menu, under Input make sure it is set to "Use Direct FMPx linking" and then click on the line below to set the Link ID and make sure it is 20001

Do NOT run FMP24.exe directly.

Run only:

FMP24-CC.bat
1R.bat

Running FMP24-CC.bat will automatically invoke FMP24.exe with the right options
Thank you! got it purring like a kitten now! Even accidently picked up on a P25 frequency lol

The issue was fmp.exe is seeing two RTL's and was trying to use the one that is already in use. after modifying the FMP24-CC.bat and changed the -i1 to -i2 - no errors and everything started working.

This has been a very awesome experience so far and I am learning alot. There is alot to learn and you guys helped big time! Maybe I dont need to buy an SDS100/200 lol

That’s great news. Glad you got it working and that you figured out what the issue was on your own can be pretty tough sometimes but also pretty rewarding. It’s pretty fun to sleuth out new stuff

I agree! I have a lot of catch up to do. Researching NXDN is like learning a new language to me but I am slowly getting there. Thanks again!
