Hi, I have a question, been listening for the scanner for a while and my trunktracker finally died and I have just been listening to a old 800 mhz non trunk scanner. I know before, the CONTROL channel would change 1 or twice or more a day, HOWEVER I know notice that it does not change anymore. Did they update their systems or add new frequencies? I think I have 16 or so frequencies in there, just was wondering, cannot wait to get a new trunk tracker, hopefully soon. Thanks!!!!!

The FCC DB shows twelve freqs. licensed for Concord's system. I'm picking up a CC on 868.1250. You may want to consider a digital Trunktracker as I had heard talk of a possible digital upgrade.

Concord Trunking

Peacock,

Concord still has 4 control channels they are 867.6250, 868.1250, 868.4375, 868.9625 these channels are supposed to change at midnight, unless the system manager is working on the system or the system is in fail soft.

The last time I talked with communications director he advised me that the only thing that might be going digital on the Concord System was Law Enforcement. He said that for now all other public safety is still going to be analog.

This may change since most of the volunteer fire departments and local rescue squad are getting FEMA grants to upgrade to the new digital radios.

For now Concord still has a bunch of the following radios on the system that are not digital and they are:

Spectras, Mts-2000's, Lts-2000's, Stx's, a few EF Johnsons and a few Mtx-8000's, Mcs-2000's,Lcs-2000's. This is the following Digital radios that I have seen so far:
Astro Saber, Xts-5000, Astro Spectra, and Xts-3000

Concord is the only Motorola System that has allowed the EF Johnson portables to be placed on it. I have heard from some people that the police bought some and they gave them back and bought Xts-5000's

Right now I don't see the system going completely digital, not till every agency upgrades to digital radios. Not all volunteer fire and rescue departments have the money or tax base to replace everything at one time. It will be a time consumming event for years to come.

Also, the last time I checked the State of NC Viper Radio system, the NC Highway Patrol is still using Anaolog for communications, with the exception of the Governors Security detail.

Hope this helps

David
