Do they operate on EBRCS only or do they still use the VHF frequencies listed on Contra Costa?

The short answer is "yes". Their primary traffic is on EBRCS, but the VHF channels still see occasional activity. Mostly the TAC channels, but I still hear occasional traffic on the dispatch channels when units are in poor EBRCS coverage areas.

Ah okay. Will this work with EBRCS then? I dont have 600$ to spend on a SDS200IMG_0272.png

1) Nothing beats a good outside antenna
2) Expect to miss calls if you're subject to Simulcast issues
3) If you are going to be "base", and near a PC; perhaps a dongle solution will work better (as they are cheaper than $600).

A BCD996P2 will work for ConFire as they currently operate, both for EBRCS and VHF. I have used a BCD325P2 (essentially the handheld version of the 996) on the system with decent luck as long as I'm not right in the middle between two sites.
