*******REMINDER: THIS IS NOT A UNIDEN PRODUCT***************
*******IT IS A PERSONAL PROJECT. UNIDEN ASSUMES**************
*******NO PERFORMANCE WARRANTY FOR THIS EFFORT*************

I've just put an updated version of the RadioReference Database Reader (RRDB Reader.zip) in the Files area of the BC246T Yahoo group. Found a couple of must-fixes if my other project is to progress.

This program will read data directly from the RadioReference.com database and export it in UASD format for the BC246T.

Update Notes:
* Fixed the unzip directory to be friendlier
* Still works only for Motorola systems
* Now correctly sets the system type for Motorola Type II systems
* Works around a couple of problems in the original data
* Now adds a fairly generic icon on the desktop and in the "Programs" folder

Enjoy!

On the icon area. My wife is a graphics designer. If you have an idea I am sure she could whip one out for ya pretty quick.

Just let me know if your interested and if you have any ideas on the icon you would like to see.

Quite honestly, I hadn't given it any thought at all until I made the installer and saw the default icon this morning. In the small brainstorm since (more of a brainmist...maybe just a strong inter-ear breeze) I see that RRDB is actually what needs an icon (first thought was to derive something from the RRDB logo, but that antenna cluster just doesn't quite lend itself).

I'll give it some thought when I have a chance. Eventually, there will be an official Uniden version of this that is more compatible, covers all system types, etc, so I don't know that this is worth much effort. I just wrote it so that:

a) It would give the software engineers an idea of what it should do;
b) I needed something that would do this for a project that is looming; and
c) I really didn't want to have to find real things to do with my spare time
