well i have one thing to say, conway wants to be a big city , and ok thats good but after so long with the encryption, some radio will crack it, i for one am not a fan of conway law enforcement, i got stopped 2 times on the same night while walking to the store and its 4 blocks , and the cop had a "better then thou" demeaner, but when i spent my time in conway, the conway pilice could not talk to uca the state police, the county s.o., they isolated themsefs from the rest of the world, pretty sad huh!

Exactly what I'm getting at Ricco and things haven't changed a bit. The Conway PD still has their little drug/alcohol/sex parties etc... talk about a bunch of hippocrites and they still can only communicate with other agencies by phone since locking themselves in their own little world while the crime rate continues to rise. I did e-mail the Mayor concerning encryption and the Conway PD. Surprisingly he wrote me back but really didn't say anything. But elections are coming up and many folks in Conway aren't so pleased with the Mayor or the sorry PD protection we get.

yeah tell me about it, little rock is not encrypted and nore is pine bluff, the digital is a ok idea, but encryption has drawbacks, a delay in reciveing, and when you hit a spot, its gonna sound like trash, and now thats its fully encrypted, i am guessing there expecting the fire department and the s.o. and m.e.m.s to, but i like the people in conway, just the way the police departent needs a major overhaul!
encryption is ok on patch phone calls, or as you said drug busts and ect. but for standard ops, no , thats the worst idea interagency requests are now nothing, all cause they had to be the best in radio cumications, i wonder if this knocks them of the project 25 plans that asp has?

Encryption
I Live within 20 miles of Tulsa,OK and frequently listen to the OK State DPS trunk site in Tulsa. Most Talk Groups in Tulsa are pretty much analog-non encrypted although some are starting to go digital. The only exception are the TGs for Tulsa PD and County SOT, and EMSA, the ambulance service in Tulsa. Special Operations and Medical agencies are the only ones I can see that justify encryption. Having the entire Conway PD TRS encrypted is definitely a bad idea. There has been many instances in Tulsa where off duty law-enforcement and fire/ems personel as well as plain citizens have heard a BOLO or other emergency dispatch nearby and helped out. I agree with you all that live in/near Conway. that really sucks!

wait a min I can go to any court house in the united states and get anyones info if they have been arrested you can get all of the records so why cant we listen to a simple radio I think that if you pay for the equipment then you should be able to hear whats going on around you. Why should they hid behind a radio when they are doing something they aren't Police are not perfect they are human too and I have gotten several cops in trouble. If I cant speed down a street then why should they, if they have a call sure no prob but when they are out just messing around cause they are cops I dont think so. OH by the way Conway is totally digital try using a different control channel. I set up my radio so that way all of the control channels for the whole state are in it and it scans them until it finds the right one for the area you are in Oh i have the BCD396T scanner its 10 times better then the RS one
